Ever since I read Mireille Guiliano’s French Women Don’t Get Fat, I’ve been meaning to try her 48-hour Magical Leek Broth fast. It’s what it sounds like, two days of eating leek broth and the leeks used to make the broth. At the end of the second, she suggests having 4 ounces of protein. The goal is to reset one’s equilibrium. According to her, “…the leek broth helps to flush the blood and kidneys, thus purging the body of various toxins.”Mireille’s Magical Leek Soup Recipe.
This Saturday and Sunday are obligation-free and perfect for giving this recasting step a go. Undertaking such a regimen might be easier to do if I treat the weekend as a retreat. Since I’ve been trying out various online yoga programs (Asana Rebel, DailyOM, and Yoga Is), I’ve decided to have a Mostly At-Home Yoga and Writing Retreat.
Today, I have been nerding out and doing some research, so I can set a schedule. I can’t even tell you how joyful the idea of having an established schedule makes me. My life seems to be this constant free-flow of decisions and task-handling with never-ending variables. For 48-hours, I’m going to follow the schedule that I set for myself.
Flashback: Sometimes when my cousin Tina and I would have a sleepover, we would make a schedule for the next day and follow it. We’d enter in things like bicycling, doing sit-ups, coloring, lunch, etc. by the half-hour. Sometimes we’d make it through the majority of it. Most of the time, I think we became distracted midway through. I can’t believe I forget what a nerd I really am at heart.

One Other Retreat Detail:
On Friday night, I will be handing over / locking up my phone and turning off all notifications on my laptop. I will not use or visit any social media, because I don’t want to see what delicious foods others are making and eating. Retreaters don’t have time for that. Really, I think it’s healthy to disengage from it all now and again. I don’t think I ever really have with intention. I will not be checking or answering emails on any of my accounts; and, I will not be accepting phone calls. Any 40 Fit N’ Stylish posts published during the weekend, will be ones that I have scheduled ahead of time.
Have you ever done an At-Home Retreat? Did you love it? Any tips? I’d love to know! Please email me at melissa@40fitnstylish.com. I can’t wait to let everyone know how this retreat goes!
