I’ve been wanting to give Beautycounter a try ever since I heard about their The Never List™. Thanks to Kristi Elker, I was able to. We met at REFINE. It seems to be one of the best places for me to meet women I want to know.
I loved most everything I tried, so this week it was extra hard to pick a favorite. For me though, it’s all about the lips. Smoochable, smooth, sexy lips that taste good too. Not even kidding about the taste. The Calendula has a definite yum factor going for it that is subtle and (dare I say) sophisticated. So, this week’s favorite find of the week is the Beautycounter Lip Conditioner in Calendula ($22). It’s available in peppermint too.
Lips need to be nourished and protected in the summer just as much as they do in the winter. The lip conditioner’s avocado oil, she butter, meadowfoam seed oil, and jojoba oil make it ultra-moisturizing. Calendula and chamomile oils are infused into it making it a calming formula that keeps those lips kissable.
I tend to overindulge on lip product, yet the container of lip goodness Kristi showed me will last me all summer long, easy. My guess is that the normal user would get over 3 months use from it.
What’s the The Never List™?
According to Beautycounter’s website, “The Never List™ is made up of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that we never use as ingredients in our products. This includes the over 1,400 chemicals banned or restricted in personal care products by the European Union, plus additional chemicals screened by Beautycounter and found to be of concern.”
Did you know that the last time the FDA reviewed the list of ingredients in cosmetics it was 1938. 1938! What?
Another great thing…
Beautycounter is a B-Corps. That means they’re dedicated to doing good in the world. They do good for the environment, their employees, and the communities they do business in. To qualify as a B-Corps they have to meet rigorous standards each and every year.
There’s an app for that…
You can use the Healthy Living Powered by Skin Deep and Food Scores app by the Environmental Working Group to check on the ratings for products in your home. The app allows you to scan the barcodes of products or enter them in, so that you can see their rating. It beats squinting at words I don’t understand anyway. Several Beautycounter products (if not all of them) receive the highest rating. Kristi showed me the app and I have started using it.
The older I get, the more health-conscious and social-conscious I become. That’s why I’m super excited to share Beautycounter with my readers.
