Chris and I are continuing to have Monday Night Date Night dinners at home. We save about $100 each date night and there are some things about dinner together at home that are delightful: chatting and enjoying a glass of wine while cooking, making meals that we wouldn’t eat anywhere else, and the comfort of knowing that things will be done as we want them.
Full Disclosure: Most of the places we’ve dined on at date night have provided amazing food and service 95% of the time (if not more).
As I establish myself as our home’s lifestyle designer and as I make decisions regarding what to do with myself in business, I find myself turning to Martha Stewart’s website, books, and programs for advice. More will be coming on that in future posts.
Since my guy will not go meatless for dinner, I also cooked up chicken breasts in our favorite basil pesto grapeseed oil by Wildtree. I order mine from Amy Beeman. When I ran out last week, she delivered a bottle she had on hand to my house.
Why Asparagus, Snap Pea, and Avocado Salad?
Asparagus is at such a great price right now ($1.99 per pound at Hy-Vee this past week) and the avocados are getting ripe, which made the timing perfect for trying out this pasta recipe. I don’t know about you, but the color green makes me think of springtime and though the snowfalls have been pretty, I’m ready for a warmup. Mother Nature appears to agree. Can you believe it’s 40 degrees in Minnesota today?
On Sunday, I heard a great review for Game Night by Cube Critics on MPR. It’s a dark comedy and we laughed so hard. Given that we went to it on a Monday night in Rochester, Minnesota, there were only four other people in the movie theater. We were laughing too hard to hear if anyone else was laughing. And some things, I felt a little bad about laughing so much about…Do you ever feel that way?
Back at home, we laughed and chattered as we each had a nightcap. Then, we called it a night. What traditions do you and your sweetie have?
