Styling for Comfort
When I interviewed Josie Schwarz about her style takeaways from her time in Denmark, these words seemed to keep coming up: Natural, Minimalist, Comfortable, Hygge.
Today, I put together a look inspired by our conversation. A favorite pair of jeans by True Religion and a comfy top with cutout shoulders by Express. I accessorized it with a scarf that’s so fun with its mix of houndstooth and plaid. I’m fortunate that my day-gig is at the Collider co-working space in Rochester, MN. Most days, deciding whether to be dressy or casual is based entirely on my mood.
I kept my makeup minimal: lip gloss, monochromatic eyeshadow, mascara, and brow pencil – all by JAFRA. It’s my favorite skin care and makeup line.
Near the end of our interview, Josie noticed my fjallraven kanken backpack. She’d nearly boughten a similar one in the same graphite color as mine while she was traveling. They were originally made in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. Kankens are very popular in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and have been increasing in popularity stateside. I love mine. It’s been super durable. I am hard on bags, purses, and shoes. Not a stitch is out of place on it. And, it’s carbon neutral! So, I made sure to have that as my “purse” today.
